Committed to fighting for women's reproductive rights and freedoms...In 1914, Margaret launched her campaign for public education with a newspaper, The Woman Rebel, for which she was charged with violating federal law and faced a sentence of up to 45 years in prison upon conviction. For the next 30 years Margaret tirelessly campaigned for her cause, from smuggling diaphragms from Europe into the U.S. to raising funds for the development of the first birth control pill. She went on to found what we know today as Planned Parenthood!
